To complement the CPBML’s London May Day meeting, the Conway Hall Ethical Society is presenting “Music and the Communist Idea”, a talk by the prominent musicologist Roderick Swanston illuminated by musical examples. Make a night of it! See here for details and how to obtain tickets.

“Communism has been one of the most pervasive and powerful political and social theories in the last 200 years. It is no surprise that it has affected and influenced composers, but its effect has been different in different places. The talk will explore some of them and examine the musical results.”
