Ben Lunn, chair of the Scotland & Northern Ireland Region of the Musicians’ Union, addresses the rally outside the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on Thursday 5 September. This was called to demand an end to cuts in the arts budget.

They celebrated the news that their vigorous campaign with its growing public support had resulted in the SNP administration reversing its closure of the £3 million fund for individuals working across the culture sector.

All speakers urged the continuation of the campaign to stop more looming cuts. The rally brought together trade unionists from Bectu, Equity, Musicians' Union, Prospect, Scottish Artists Union and Writers' Guild – with the STUC helping to coordinate.
