London university workers have launched a series of strikes after rejecting an “insulting” 1.4 per cent pay offer. They say this amounts to a pay cuts as their household costs are increasing.

The pay dispute at the British Library has ended after strike action. PCS union members have accepted a significantly enhanced pay offer, although it fell short of their claim.
The National Education Union is running a ballot of its members in schools in England to test their response to the government’s offer of an unfunded 6.5 per cent pay increase over three years.

The government has announced a public sector pay rise of 2.8 per cent for 2025. Unions have denounced this as a cut in real pay. They are gearing up for a fight on pay again.
The government has imposed a pay settlement on the majority of NHS workers in England. There is no option to accept or reject. This inevitably raises the stakes for future pay claims.
Some groups of doctors have settled pay claims for now. But others are fighting for rises.
Train drivers’ union Aslef has reached agreement with the incoming Labour government to resolve a pay dispute in most of the passenger train operators. It has involved 18 days of strikes.

Hospital consultants in England have voted to accept a pay offer. The offer will see most consultants receive increases of between 2.9 and 12.8 per cent on top of 6 per cent already offered in November 2023.
