Ask who wants this war, and why
The risk of an all-out conflict between NATO and Russia is higher now than at any point in the cold war period.

What would socialism mean for Britain? And what would it take to achieve it?
A recent CPBML meeting discussed how workers here can respond to foreign wars. One conclusion: removing Britain from the crumbling NATO alliance would be a good start…
We live in dangerous times – often said, but it’s true. The world is getting steadily more dangerous. But there is a way forward: independence…
20 May 2026
The elections on 7 May changed little. Workers across Britain trounced the Labour Party. But it remains in power, determined to cling on and to inflict as much damage as possible on the country.
20 May 2026
Workers across Britain rejected the Labour government in the 7 May votes. Those in Scotland and Wales have also to deal with their devolved administrations, which don’t have anything new to offer.
British workers cannot leave it to Keir Starmer and his government to decide on what our country does about war across the Middle East. Britain must stop interfering in other sovereign nations and get out of NATO.
The Labour government aims to tie Britain to the EU’s severe net zero targets, pushing up energy costs.

Britain’s people must decide against the USA’s attack on Iran, born of the desire to control global energy. This is not a war of our making, we should have no part of it.
Rising international tensions and the threat of wide scale war are clear for everyone to see. The question for British workers is whether we accept that the government knows what it is doing and needs our support.
Parliamentary elections, we have consistently said, change nothing. And despite all the froth around the local elections in May, they too will change nothing fundamental in Britain.
It is evident to all workers, and many capitalists, that Britain is experiencing a worsening decline in the economy, unable to provide the jobs, goods and services people need. But that observation on its own will not lead to change…
May Day 2026: For British independence, for peace
Friday 1 May, 7.30pm
Bertrand Russell Room, Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4RL
On May Day we take stock of Britain and the world.
The ruling class and the government use wars overseas to divert from their attack against the British working class, foremost their plan to rejoin the EU. Reject their plan and join us in rebuilding an independent Britain.
The British working class can act as a force for peace by calling for an end to foreign adventures and interference by our government. We must use our resources for our many needs here in Britain. The essential and urgent task for workers is to rebuild and maintain an independent industrial base – including defence.
Come to celebrate May Day and join the discussion.
All welcome. Free Entry.

US military action against Venezuela should be universally condemned as a violation of sovereignty. This highlights once again the role of Britain in NATO, and the presence of US bases here. They pose a threat to our sovereignty.
Obsession with the appalling events in Palestine is to the detriment of workers here in Britain.
In a world where rival imperialisms and globalist corporations seek to cement their power, a strong nation state is a precondition of independence. Yet some seem confused about what being British entails…
A new book takes you from Britain to many other countries, notably Cuba, where the author helped organise the supply of medical aid to the blockaded country…
Britain’s economy: we need a new direction!
Wednesday 4 February 2026, 7.30 pm

Finance must become the servant of productive industry for the country and not an end in itself.
British workers have two choices: continue as we are, or strike out in a new direction.
Come and discuss our new pamphlet and the ideas it sets out. All welcome. Free entry.

The media in Britain seem obsessed by the politics and political thought of the USA, a trend shared by too many. It’s an unhealthy obsession and a deliberate distraction from our pressing needs.
What does it mean to be British?
The ruling class continues to denigrate the referendum votes for the unity of Britain in 2014 and for exit from the EU in 2016. Their distaste for British workers exercising their political power is evident, even in such a small thing as defiantly flying flags.
To be British is simple – you live and work here, nowhere else. But the existence of an independent nation can’t be taken for granted. And it doesn’t matter if it’s the EU or USA trying to dominate our lives: both should be opposed.
Come and discuss. Email info@cpbml.org.uk for an invitation.
In 1787 six striking weavers from the Calton area of Glasgow were killed and many more injured. The annual commemoration of their watershed struggle is building towards the 240th anniversary in 2027.
Keir Starmer and his government do not defend Britain. They do not act in our interests but cynically pretend that they do…
The sight of parliamentarians in front of the Union Jack should fool no one. Working class nationalism, British independence and security of our borders are anathema to the majority in Parliament. They would prefer to stand in front of the EU flag.
Britain truly became united not because of an act of parliament or a monarch’s ambition. It became one with the rise of the working class and working class culture…
Our ruling class has a track record of not protecting Britain’s national interest. One typical episode occurred at the end of the Second World War…
The big question raised by the grooming gangs is not that some men, especially in tightly knit communities, might seek to take advantage. It is how on earth such abuse went on for decades.
